Are you looking for a way to accelerate your download speeds? There is tons of great pay applications out there that can help you with that BUT I love freeware so I have composed a list of free good download managers you can use to increase your speeds up to 400%.A few of my favorite free download managers have been excluded as they have been left to die (no updates) or simply thought it would be a good idea to go shareware.

1) Free Download Manager: Free Download Manager is the most powerful download manager I have found that helps you organize, schedule and speed-up your Internet file downloads.It has TONS of great features I love such as the drag and drop, 3 different speed modes so you can continue browsing comfortably while still downloading at a low speed, it checks the files your downloading for known malicious programs and heaps more.Soon to become open source this freeware is a must have.

2) Download Express: Download Express is a very simple yet powerful download manager, with the multiple downloading channels technology it dramatically increases your speeds.It hasn’t got many fancy features like the others but it has some basic ones which are more than enough.

3) FlashGet: FlashGet is yet another great download manager, jam packed with options like: resume broken downloads, organize your files into categories, create download rules for automatic sorting based on the site or file extension, schedule your downloads it is a great piece of software to have.Like the other download managers it splits files and downloads multiple sections of them simultaneously but unlike some others it searches for mirrors to provide you with alternate download locations.The reason I have placed it at number 3 is because of the rumors and badmouthing it has had, FlashGet developers use to insert adware into the applications a few years ago, I haven’t had any problems with the newer versions but their is still some people who complain they do.
