By now I imagen you have already created an email address like everyone else, with one of the several dozens of companies available, but have you considered using an email client instead of depending on your email providers website? Frankly using email clients has many advantages to it like instant email notification, faster checking, no ads, less spam, more options and backup of all your emails in case something goes wrong with your account.I have used quite a few over the years but here are my top favorites and alternatives to Outlook Express/Windows Email.
1) Mozilla Thunderbird: Thunderbird is the most popular client developed by the same folks of Firefox, it comes with built-in junk mail controls, message filters, address book, news groups, IMAP/POP compatibility, support for HTML mail, labels, quick search, return receipts, LDAP address completion, import tools and more. Its clean and easy to use interface is customizable with the add-ons and themes from the user developed Mozilla database.Thunderbird also offers security features such as S/MIME, digital signing, message encryption, support for certificates and security devices.
2) i.Scribe: i.Scribe is a remarkably compact email program with an easy to use interface and some excellent features, including a split view of folders and items, signatures, drag and drop, preview and more.A great advantage about it is that it does not require any installation and you can run it from a data disk or USB stick if needed.Additional features include plug-in support, proxy support, ESMTP authentication, message templates, Bayesian spam filter.
3) Pegasus Mail: Pegasus is a powerful mail program that can be used in a very wide range of environments, and which is especially well-suited to Internet mail. The program has tons of features, including multiple signatures, HTML support, mailing lists, address books, reply templates and many more. Pegasus Mail has special support for Novell NetWare local area networks and operates in that environment with almost no maintenance and with a number of extra capabilities.
Respected Contenders: eMailaya, Reach-a-Mail, Koma-Mail.
