Best Of: Best Free Text Editor

If you are a webmaster, you will appreciate the advantages of having a good text editor to configure your coding with.Editing your websites scripts and codes is hard enough already, without the hassle of having to deal with the disadvantages of editing a site in notepad (limited search functions ect…), I have composed a list of the best free text editors that will help you inmensely in the management of your site/blog.

1) PSPad Editor: PSPad Editor is my personal favorite and the one I use when ever I have big chunks of code to edit, it incorporates a lot of features that are very useful like the hex editor, CP conversion, text differences, templates, macros, spellcheck option, auto-completion, code explorer and a few others. The pre-configured programming languages (Visual Basic, C++, SQL, PHP, ASP, and Python) will speed up things as it will auto complete basic codes by closing any open tags you might have.

2) NoteTab Light: NoteTab Light is equally as good as PSPad except for the skin, my favorite feature of this editor is the “Clipbook” library tool that is used to paste frequently-used text clips and playback macros. It has different libraries for different tools, like the FTP library lets you create server profiles, connect, upload and download files, and issue various commands. The HTML library auto completes HTML tags and so on. Another thing you can do is create your own library or download a user-created one from the publishers website.

3) Crimson Editor: Crimson Editor is a great alternative but I wouldn’t recommend it for any novice as the interface is a bit harder than the ones above. It only has basic features which come it handy if you want a fast loading, small sized editor, with HTML, C/C++, Perl and Java as the main languages it supports.

Respected Contenders: Alleycode, Notepad++, Notepad2, EditPad Light, Win32Pad, Metapad.

Hello!, Matthew is awesomely cool with tons of knowledge and lots of experience in blah blah blah ...he doesn't like writing about himself cause it always seems to come out sounding self-centered, instead he will write this in a third person which most authors do anyway...perhaps it's because it makes us sound important cause it gives the illusion someone (non biased) thinks so highly of us they took some time off their own to write this :).Read more about me here...
