Crimson Editor is a professional source editor for Windows. While it can serve as a good replacement for Notepad, it also offers many powerful features for programming languages such as HTML, C/C++, Perl and Java. It offers Syntax Highlighting for HTML, C/C++, Perl, Java, Matlab and LaTeX and can be extended for other programming languages based on custom syntax files. Additional features include multi-level undo/redo, user tools, tabbed browsing, macros, spell checker, bookmarks, print support, FTP support and much more.

Pros: Very powerful, rich of functions, easy interface, fast loading, great search functions.

Cons: Template color coding is wrong in some scripts, not updated.
