Best Azureus Plugins

Azureus offers the great feature of allowing you to customize your client with the plugins of your choice, for some reason addons and plugins always make me excited knowing I can modify an application to my taste by adding new features.To help you get a kick start when using Azureus I thought I would recommend you some cool plugins you can try to know what it’s all about.I have gathered a few explanations from different websites since I do not use Azureus anymore.

By now I guess you already have downloaded azureus and installed it,so here’s the list of plugins:

» ADVANCED STATISTICS: It allows for a user with a penchant for knowledge to see a variety of statistics relating to the data being transferred by Azureus. It offers a 3 tab selection of information (progress,activity,transfer).

» AUTO SPEED: This is an interesting plugin that is a “must have.” It automatically adjusts the global upload speed limits based on network latency in order to maximize download speeds. It pings a configurable IP address and uses the ping times to continually update the upload speed limit.

» 3-D VIEW: This plugin does pretty much what the name implies, displaying a 3-D view of a torrent’s swarm.

» CHAT: It essentially creates 1 chat channel per torrent for connected peers to talk with one another.

» FIREFROG: For those who use Firefox as their internet browser and are familiar with it’s download manager. The FireFog plugin offers the same thing, providing a separate window that displays the status of your torrents as the data is either being leeched or seeded.

» I2P NETWORK: The I2P Network plugin allows use of the I2P anonymous network. I2P is an anonymizing network, offering a simple layer that identity-sensitive applications can use to securely communicate. All data is wrapped with several layers of encryption, and the network is both distributed and dynamic, with no trusted parties.

» PROGRESS BAR: This plugin is an easy way to see a visual download percentage in lieu of using FireFrog, for instance, and is an easy way to see the progress of your download in it’s most basic form.

» SafePeer: The SafePeer plugin ensures that your Azureus client does not connect to any IP’s considered to be related to government or media organizations that monitor filesharing traffic, greatly reducing your chances of getting caught for downloading something you should have purchased.

» SPEED SCHEDULER: With the Speed Scheduler you can create an unlimited number of schedules to adjust your download and upload speeds. One can define the schedules based on day, time, global limits for uploading and downloading, and also too can outright pause either downloads or seeds.

» RSS Import: The idea behind the RSS Import plugin is to automatically import an RSS feed from your favorite torrent site and, based on your filter, download the latest episode of a television show you’ve been following, etc…
