Firewalls play a huge role on your computer, not only do they block hackers from trying to get into your computer, they also keep malware from ‘calling home’ (sending your information out of the computer) .A computer has over 65,000 incoming and outgoing ports, are you keeping an eye on all of them? No!? lol thats what we have firewalls for, to block them all and notify you what applications are trying to access which ports.

There use to be alot of great free firewalls in the past, but alot of them seemed to have disappeared. There is still two great firewalls I love and have recommended for some time. Depending on your skill level try one of these:

» Comodo Firewall: If you are a experienced internet user, you will appreciate the control that comodo offers. Apart from its excellent interface, this firewalls learns from your actions and adjusts accordingly to every situation. It gives you alot of control over writing new rules and some advance options its competitor below doesn’t.

» ZoneAlarm: This firewall may not give you as much control as Comodo does but it’s great for new,non tech savvy or lazy users. It is very simple to use, gives you basic control over your security and protects well against any incoming or outgoing attacks.

Both firewalls are equally good and will offer you a lot of protection, some of us just look for more options cause where control freaks.

Hello!, Matthew is awesomely cool with tons of knowledge and lots of experience in blah blah blah ...he doesn't like writing about himself cause it always seems to come out sounding self-centered, instead he will write this in a third person which most authors do anyway...perhaps it's because it makes us sound important cause it gives the illusion someone (non biased) thinks so highly of us they took some time off their own to write this :).Read more about me here...
