How To: Install Windows Fonts

how-to-install-fonts.jpg

A few of you have been asking me how to install fonts, It’s quite easy really but I’ll write the post anyway.I remember the first time I downloaded a don’t I found myself with this weird file type without knowing where to put it or how to add it to my fonts list, I was planning on designing something in Photoshop and had font this cool Blade 2 font :P. There’s only one simple way of installing a font no matter if it’s OpenType, TrueType or PostScript Type 1.

First off you will need to find a font you like, heres a few sites I recommend that offer free fonts:

» DaFont.com

» 1001FreeFonts.com

» AcidFonts.com

Once you have found the font you are looking for, download it and open it (normally they are zipped). Right click on the font (ignore the readme and short to the site that some bring) and select Copy.

To access the fonts folder you have to options, you can:

Go to Start > Control Panel > click on the Fonts Folder (Windows Vista users will find this folder under Appearance and Personalization).

The other way is by opening My Computer, going to C:WindowsFonts .

Once you have the fonts folder open right click on it and select Paste.

And thats it! Wasn’t that easy?

PS: You can add as many fonts as you want but I STRONGLY don’t recommend it, It will dramatically slow down your windows Shutdown (log off) process.Windows has to check every single font when your shut it down, the more fonts it has to check the more time it will take to shutdown.

Hello!, Matthew is awesomely cool with tons of knowledge and lots of experience in blah blah blah ...he doesn't like writing about himself cause it always seems to come out sounding self-centered, instead he will write this in a third person which most authors do anyway...perhaps it's because it makes us sound important cause it gives the illusion someone (non biased) thinks so highly of us they took some time off their own to write this :).Read more about me here...
