Are you considering upgrading to windows vista? I’ve been running it for a while and frankly theirs not much difference apart from a couple of options and a new design, games actually run faster in XP, I’d wait for SP1 to come out before purchasing it however, you can get still enjoy the looks of it.I’m running XP on my secondary computer and found a vista transformation pack, I tried it and it started screwing up my computer so I decided to look around to see if I could find a simple visual style that could do the trick, I did so heres how you do it:
First: Download this. Install it. Forget any warnings that come up, just install it. This patch changes your XP so that it will accept 3rd party windows skins without an extra application such as WindowsBlinds.
Second: Find yourself some vista wallpapers, you can do it through google but heres a link to a few Vista wallpapers.
Third: Download this. Unzip and then click on the theme. It should load your display properties in the theme tab. Then, apply the theme. BE PATIENT. It might take a while.
Once thats done you will be able to see your cool new Vista look, In order to keep it this way, move both folders from the third download into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, and then re-apply the theme from there.
If you don’t like the new look, right click on your desktop and select Properties, then click the “Theme” tab, then select the windows XP style again and click Apply.
PS: Some people get asked to insert a CD when running the patcher, click Cancel and then restart.
