I was speaking to a few friends who have dual booting (vista and xp on the same disk) the other day and they were complaining about how Windows XP will provide less hassle now that the service pack 3 is coming out so I thought there might be a few other people with this problem who may want to uninstall their copy of windows vista and maybe wait till SP1 is our or even SP2, some gamers won’t install it until Direct X 10 is out.Personally, if i wanted to uninstall an operating system I would probably format the whole hard drive or partition to give the new OS a clean start but I guess that isn’t the correct way and old habits stick really hard so here’s how to uninstall it the proper way:
I imagen by now you have already backed up all your important files and stuff and know that once uninstalled, you will loose everything on that OS.
1) Boot your computer with windows xp, download and install then launch VistaBootPro.
2) Go to Manage OS Entries and then select the Microsoft Windows Vista entry. Click on the Delete button and confirm that you want to delete Windows Vista from the BCD Registry.
3) Now you can close VistaBootPro. Go to your desktop, right click on My Computer and select Manage.
4) The Computer Management tool will open. From the left side menu select Disk Management. You will see a list with all your partitions. Select the partition where you have installed Windows Vista, right click on it and choose Format….
5) In the Format window you can type the new name you want to set for this partition. Also you can change other settings such as the file system or the allocation unit size. We recommend you to use the default settings for both and press the OK button.
In case you don’t want to wait for too long, you can always perform a quick format. Just check the Perform a quick format box and press OK.
6) You will receive a warning. Click on OK and the formatting will begin.
7) The formatting process can take from a few seconds up to several minutes. The duration depends a lot on the size of the partition and the type of formatting (normal or quick format). When finished, you will no longer have Windows Vista installed on your system.
