How To: Use A Proxy In Internet Explorer

You can configure Microsoft Internet Explorer to use a proxy server to connect to the Internet. A proxy server acts as a security barrier between your internal network and the Internet, keeping others on the Internet from being able to obtain access to information that is located on your internal network.

Internet Explorer 7.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click on the Tools button in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.

3. Under Proxy server, click to select the “Use a proxy server for your LAN…” check box.

4. In the Address box, type the IP address of the proxy server.

5. In the Port box, type the port number that is used by the proxy server for client connections.

6. You can click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box if you do not want the proxy server computer to be used when you connect to a computer on the local network (this may speed up performance).

7. Click OK to close the LAN Settings dialog box.

8. Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.

Hello!, Matthew is awesomely cool with tons of knowledge and lots of experience in blah blah blah ...he doesn't like writing about himself cause it always seems to come out sounding self-centered, instead he will write this in a third person which most authors do anyway...perhaps it's because it makes us sound important cause it gives the illusion someone (non biased) thinks so highly of us they took some time off their own to write this :).Read more about me here...
