Like a lot of people I love watching tv, and having traveled much, I miss some channels from other countries I use to watch, plus here we get shows 3-6 months later after they have aired in the USA which totally sucks.Till now I have been quite happy with my TVU Player and recently discovered JLC’s Internet TV, but they both are missing some good channels I would like to watch.
For that reason I have compiled a list of great online resources you can use to watch just about any popular tv channels world wide, they are all free and only require a moderate internet connection speed and the following player plugins: Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Flash. for Mac OS users: Flip4Mac, QuickTime, Flash.
This guide is aimed at helping you find live streaming channels to watch, If you want a specific tv show episode you can try Democracy Player or wait till I write a guide for tv show and movie resources.
Lets get started,
ONLINE RESOURCES:
» ChannelChooser - Channel Chooser is one of the most popular choices available, with over 630+ channels (and growing) held in a very well designed 15 categories, and a new mobile feature added, you will love this site. They also offer an Indian and Dutch version of their site.
» wwiTV - This is quite a big site so click on the link to read our full review.
» Beeline TV - Beeline TV is a fairly good site, with a simple designed interface and 180+ channels all categorized by language, it’s worth a check.
» Streamick - Streamick is a new and mostly well designed site (apart from the frame they use for the channels), it has around 210+ channels held in 10 categories.
» ChannelKing - Channel King is not much different from the rest, nice design, 230+ channels in 14 categories.
» ChooseAndWatch - Choose And Watch has lost quite some points with me for making the site Internet Explorer compatible only, they have 300+ channels in 15 categories and most channels are just the same as ChannelChooser’s.
» Live-Online-TV - Quite a simple layout of 250+ channels in 40 categories including a few video channels.
DESKTOP RESOURCES:
» Zattoo - Zattoo seems to be a promising new application, it still hasn’t been released to the public yet but it’s offering around 51 channels no other site or application does, the site can be translated into five different languages, and currently you need to apply for an invitation to try it.
» Joost.com - Joost offers quality channels with full-screen picture, hundreds of full-length shows and easy channel-flipping.It also has features like search, chat and instant messaging, built right into the program - so you find shows quickly and talk to your friends while you watch.
» BabelGum.com - BabelGum offers a variety of shows and options while you watch tv, allows your to create your own thematic channels, “smart channels”, which automatically generate programming for you according to your personal interests and tastes.
» TVU Player - Read our few comprehensive review here.
» JLC’s Internet TV - Read our few comprehensive review here.
Good sum up, but here’s the ones I use most (firefox pro user so what I use is generally what works in Firefox, so I don’t put up with ads overload or popups):
http://www.freetube.us.tc - honestly the best online tv site, has the best and most channels and it just works. Not much to say except that it works, friendly support community and pretty dang neat too. Also it doesn’t have a lot of ads, I noticed that a few on your list are just coated in ads, channelchooser and chooseandwatch are coated in ads, chooseandwatch is just junk firefox crashed and I got a message from the site saying you have to have IE to use it or to install ie tabs (that defeats the point of using firefox, bad site).
http://www.joost.com - you listed it but you need an invite, try http://www.techcrunch.com or http://www.joost.uni.cc .
http://www.livestation.com - ms is planning on entering the market, fears or tears of joy, undecided so far.
