One of the biggest problems online is the downloading of illegal copies of full movies, tv shows, music, games and cracked software.We all know it happens, there are three main ways people use to download all that content, in this guide I will give you a short insight of each way explaining how they do it and what they use to help you gain knowledge of the subject.

TORRENTS

This method is by far the most popular and safest in my opinion, torrent downloading is quite fast and has a wide variety of content to choose from.Files are divided into dozens of parts in different computers and are all linked together through their .torrent file tracker, this tracker file is downloaded by your torrent client (uTorrent, Azureus) and later joint together again.You can read my ultimate beginners guide for torrents to find out more.

P2P FILE SHARING

Over the years p2p (peer-2-peer) file sharing has lost its huge popularity due to the vasts amounts of virus,spyware and adware circling its networks.The lack of real content and reliable speed has taken it’s toll on these applications with only a few major popular ones left.P2P applications like Limewire or eMule work by allowing specified folders on your computer to be shared with the rest of the world allowing users to swap content quite easily.If you plan on using a p2p application, make sure you install PeerGuarding 2 for additional security.

IRC

IRC was one of the first ways I started downloading files, I suggest you do not use this unless your an experienced user.IRC is an old fashion chat system where they use to allow the transfer of files like pictures, txt files till people started uploading illegal content.IRC does not support this type of stuff so they haven’t made commands for downloading or searching for this.Transfer rates are slow and you might get viruses or spyware so I really don’t suggest this anymore, but sometimes it has content that torrents nor p2p networks have.If you really want to to try it you can get a free IRC application like Scrollz or if your interested in paying you should download the most popular one mIRC.
