How To: Download YouTube Videos

If you’re looking for an easy way to download videos from sites like Youtube, Google Video, iFilm, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Myspace, Break.com, CollegeHumor, DevilDucky, Grouper, Music.com, MySpace Video Code, Newgrounds, Revver, Sharkle, ZippyVideos theres a few different ways you can choose from.All of these methods are completely free and you do not have to pay for any software.

METHOD 1: Applications.
Theres many desktop applications to download videos but after reviewing them most, heres my favorites:

» VDownloader: VDownloader allows you to download videos from all the sites above and many other similar sites, saving them in AVI or MPG format.

» YouRipper: YouRipper offers users the ability to easily download videos from these sites and save them as an industry standard flash movie (*.flv). In addition, YouRipper can also generate the necessary HTML or Javascript to Embed these videos into a Webpage, blog or MySpace page, using a generic, fully customizable video player instead of the ones provided by YouTube.

METHOD 2: Plugins.
The easiest and probably the most popular way is of course using browser plugins (mainly for Firefox), with a couple of clicks you can have the video on your desktop in no time.The only problem is some of these require you to download a file converter software since all files are downloaded in flash format.

» VideoDownloader: VideoDownloader add a small icon on the status bar at the bottom of your firefox window, and a toolbar button. Just click that and download the video you are watching!

» Greasemonkey Script: Joshua Kinberg at sandbox films created a Greasemonkey script which creates a link on the top of the screen for you to save the video locally. METHOD 3: Websites.
A new way to download videos fast and easy is via a website, you just insert the videos url into the box and it automatically finds it and downloads it for you.Here are some popular ones:
